Inclusive Banking

Accessibility
Statement.

Banking is not optional, so the way you reach it should not depend on how you see, hear, move or read. This is what we aim for, and where we know we fall short.

01 Our Commitment

Seabridge Credit Union is working to make this website and our online banking usable by as many people as possible, including those who use a screen reader, navigate by keyboard alone, rely on magnification or high contrast, or find dense text difficult.

We treat accessibility as part of building the service, not as a later correction. That said, no site is ever finished, and a statement that claimed perfection would not be worth reading.

02 The Standard We Work To

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. That is the level most commonly written into law and procurement rules, and it is the one we hold ourselves to.

We describe this site as partially conformant: most of it meets the standard, and the parts that do not are listed openly in section 4 rather than left for you to discover.

03 What We Have Built In

Keyboard navigation

Every link, button, menu and form control can be reached and operated without a mouse.

A skip link is the first thing keyboard and screen-reader users reach on every page.

Text alternatives

Images carry alternative text; decorative graphics are hidden from assistive technology instead of being announced as noise.

Contrast

Body text and interface colours are chosen to stay legible, including against our darker brand backgrounds.

Resizable text

The layout reflows to 200% zoom without content being cut off or overlapping.

Consistent structure

Headings run in a logical order and navigation stays in the same place on every page.

04 Known Gaps

We would rather name these than let you find them:

  • Some statements and product documents are supplied as PDFs that are not fully tagged for screen readers. We will send any document in an accessible format on request.
  • A small number of marketing images carry text inside the image, which magnification handles poorly. We are replacing these as pages are updated.
  • Third-party content embedded from other providers is not always within our control to correct, though we raise issues with them.

05 If The Website Does Not Work For You

You should never be shut out of your own money because a page is difficult to use. Anything you can do on this site, you can also do by speaking to a person. Call 1-800-BANKING and tell us what you need — including if you would prefer we always contact you in a particular format.

06 Tell Us What Is Broken

If something on this site stopped you doing what you came to do, we want to know. Telling us the page address, what you were trying to do, and which assistive technology or browser you use lets us reproduce the problem rather than guess at it.

We aim to respond within five working days. If our response does not resolve it, the complaints procedure applies to accessibility just as it does to any other service failure.
